How to make claims on extended warranties
with BBB rating easy
This is the Auto-Warranty-One secret list of “things to watch for” when calling in your extended warranties with BBB rating claim. We want your national extended auto warranty ownership experience to be a good one. By knowing some of the honest pitfalls that may occur, your claims process can be more pleasurable.
Tips for making a successful car extended warranties with BBB rating claim
- Do keep up with the recommended maintenance on your vehicle. The claims process can take a turn for the worse when this is ignored. Make sure you fluids, lubricants, coolants and refrigerants levels and filter are checked and filled. Proper wheel alignments (front and rear wheel) are also required. Save your oil change and other maintenance receipts. Hand written oil change receipts will not be accepted.
- Don’t drive the automobile if engine overheating occurs. Continued driving usually results in expensive breakdowns considered “owner-abuse” accompanied by claim denial. Most vehicle extended warranties require immediate service for engine overheating. Carry your cell phone when you drive. If overheating ever occurs, call the road-side assistance plan that comes with any Auto-Warranty-One plan.
- Do call the warranty company first before you authorize repairs. This may sound elementary but it still happens often and becomes a difficult claim to pay for even the best used car warranties for several reasons including very little chance of proper inspection.
- Don’t file for a claim with aftermarket or custom add-on parts installed on your vehicle. Claims may be denied due to alterations not meeting manufacturer’s specifications. These parts include: oversized wheels, frame or suspension modifications, lift kits, lowering kits, emissions and/or exhaust system modifications and engine and/or computer modifications.
- Don’t tell the auto services extended warranty claims advisor that your car “was acting that way when you purchased it”. Claims can be denied if your vehicle has a “pre-existing” condition. If you believe the vehicle you purchased was not working correctly when you took delivery, tell the dealer he/she is responsible to fix the car first before you call in the warranty claim. This will give you two possible avenues to fix a single breakdown.
